Hiding your Religion

Why do we hide our religion? Why do we hide our love for Jesus? Are we scared of losing followers on social media, or are we scared of being judged by our friends and family?

So many of us hide behind closed doors and we don’t realize that we are hiding a huge part of who we are. We hide behind private social media accounts, because we don’t want to “offend” anyone… In reality we are offending the only person who really matters, Jesus. We end up causing ourselves pain and heartache by hiding our beliefs or not sharing our thoughts with friends and family. We think we aren’t causing anyone any harm but what if you had the words someone desperately needed to hear that day. Or what if you decide not to publicly share that bible verse that completely changed your day, it could have helped one of your followers get through whatever battle they are secretly fighting. You might think these little things don’t matter but they do, Jesus is calling you to share his word with everyone around you.

You see Jesus gives us a choice we can reject him now and be rejected by him at his second coming, or we can accept Jesus now and be accepted by him then. Rejecting him now may help us escape shame for the time being, but it will guarantee an eternity of shame later. Mark 8:38 If anyone is ashamed of me and my message in these adulterous and sinful days, the Son of Man will be ashamed of that person when he returns in the glory oh his Father with the holy angels.”

In this verse what really stands out to me is these adulterous and sinful days, I couldn’t find this to be more true with the times we are living in right now. We have let teens and society normalize so many ungodly things. We are so use to seeing young adults move in together and start a family before getting married or just completely leaving marriage out of it, we see so many single teen mothers because sex has become such a casual thing between people that it doesn’t seem to matter that God intended the sexual relationship between a husband and wife to be an exclusive intimate bond to strengthen the marriage relationship. These things have been normalized due to everyone taking Jesus out of the equation and Christians being afraid to preach His word to the world. Which is why I think its so important RIGHT NOW to stand up for Jesus and do as your told and and spread his word. 1 Timothy 4:13 Until I get there, focus on reading the Scriptures to the church, encouraging the believers, and teaching them.
